What we collect

Is It Nice Outside collects minimal data to provide you with weather information:

• Location data — your approximate location (latitude/longitude) is used solely to fetch local weather. It is not stored on our servers.
• Anonymous session token — a random identifier stored in your browser to track your daily usage quota and subscription status. It is not linked to your identity.
• Chat messages — your weather questions are sent to our AI service to generate responses. We do not store conversation history on our servers.

Cookies & local storage

We use browser local storage (not cookies) to save your preferences (dark mode, units) and anonymous session token. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

Third-party services

• Open-Meteo — weather data provider (no personal data shared)
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI chat responses (messages are processed but not stored)
• Vercel — hosting and serverless functions
• Upstash — anonymous usage tracking (no personal data)

Data retention

Usage counters expire automatically after 7 days. We don't keep anything longer than we need to.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Since we don't collect personal data beyond anonymous tokens, there is typically nothing to delete. If you have concerns, contact us below.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
